THE SURPRISING REASON SMART PEOPLE LOSE THEIR PERSUASIVE EDGE
Certainty feels safe, but it can quietly suffocate your curiosity - and with it, your ability to influence others.
In this video, I explore a trap we all fall into: judging new ideas through the lens of what we already believe. I call it the Prism of Precedence. It’s natural, but it’s also one of the biggest reasons smart people get stuck. Old assumptions crowd out new information. Familiar ideas feel more “true” simply because they’re familiar.
For anyone who wants to lead, persuade or shape change, this matters. The more rigid you are, the more rigid others become in response. Curiosity, on the other hand, is contagious. When you stay open, people feel safe enough to do the same.
If you want more impact, stay curious enough to let new ideas surprise you.
